About
Ramey Channell was born and grew up in Leeds, Alabama. She knew from early childhood that she wanted to be a writer, and began writing plays, short stories, and poetry. In high school, her poems and stories were published in the school literary magazine, VOX. She submitted her first story to a publisher at age 16 and became published at age 19 by National Scholastic Magazine, Scholastic Press.
As an adult, her poetry and short stories have won many awards and have been published by Aura Literary Arts Review, Birmingham Arts Journal, River's Edge Publishing, Livingston Press, Alabama Writers Conclave, Alabama State Poetry Society, and others.
Ramey has three published novels: Sweet Music on Moonlight Ridge (Chalet Publishers LLC 2010, St. Leonard’s Field 2015) The Witches of Moonlight Ridge (St. Leonard’s Field 2016) and The Treasure of Moonlight Ridge (St. Leonard's Field 2021). Her children's book for ages 1 - 8 years is Mice from the Planet Zimlac (St. Leonard's Field 2021) written and illustrated by Ramey. Available in French edition, Les Souriceaux de la Planete Zimlac (St. Leonard's Field 2022) written and illustrated by Ramey, translated by Alexandrine Duteil Stebach.
